The Kirkintilloch Foot Clinic (established 1991) is owned by James and Jackie McDonald.

James is from Kirkintilloch and Jackie is from Redcar in Cleveland. Both are registered with the Health Professions Council.

Liz Reynolds is our Podiatric Nurse

Liz helps as directed by the podiatrists to:

-undertake all treatments of patients

-undertake vascular and neurological tests and other tests

- undertake domicilliary visits

- assist with Biomechanical assessments.

- assist with POP moulds.

- assist with any emergency situation eg fainting etc.

- assist with patients who require chair lift.

TEN REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE THE KIRKINTILLOCH FOOT CLINIC

1. There is no need for a GP referral.

2. Appointments can generally be arranged the same day or next day.

3. Appointments are arranged at specified intervals to avoid long waits in the waiting room.

4. Nail reduction forms part of standard treatment.

5.  If a problem still exists within a few days of treatment, then a further appointment will be arranged immediately, free of charge.

6. Foot examinations form part of routine treatment. Biomechanical advice is given, to help in a total understanding of the reasons for foot problems.

7. You may choose which podiatrist you wish to see, either male or female, unlike the NHS where you have no choice of whom you see.

8. All Instruments are ultrasonically cleaned and sterilised between patients. The podiatrists for the protection of you, the patient, wear surgical gloves.

9. A Podiatrist or a Podiatric Nurse are always available for advice on general foot care.

10. Home Visits during Clinic hours can be arranged for the elderly or infirm, to suit individual needs.

The receptionist in our practice will arrange any appointments necessary and will be only too pleased to advise you on any aspect of the Clinic including information on the products which are available for sale at reception, e.g. Foot Files, Guard Socks, CCS Foot Care Cream, Lamisil Spray, Odaban Spray  and TT50.

There is a chair lift available for those who have difficulty with the stairs. After pressing the buzzer on the intercom at the bottom of the stairs, a member of staff will answer and then come down to assist with the chair lift. For the safety of our patients and insurance restrictions, the chair lift cannot be used without a member of staff present.

New Regulations

Please be aware that new regulations have been implemented within the chiropody/ podiatry profession. These regulations are for the protection of you, the patient.

The title chiropodist/podiatrist is now a protected title. This means that any person practising as a chiropodist/podiatrist, must be registered with, or have applied by July 2005 to be registered with, the new Health Professions Council (HPC), which came into effect on the 9 July 2003.

The 1960 Supplementary to Medicine Act, which governed state registered chiropodists only, is now obsolete. After July 2005 any person who is not on the HPC register, who claims to be a chiropodist/ podiatrist and treats a member of the public will be committing a criminal offence.

Furthermore, if any person not on the register knowingly allows a member of the public to believe they are a chiropodist/podiatrist, they will also be committing a criminal offence. In both cases they will be prosecuted and are liable to a maximum fine of £5000.
